The North vs South Championship headed to BORC Motocross Track in Bloemfontein on 26 September, bringing riders together for a weekend of great racing, team spirit and plenty of provincial pride.
Friday's practice sessions kicked things off in beautiful warm weather, with around 80–100 riders taking the opportunity to get some track time ahead of Saturday's main event.
Saturday morning brought a very different picture, with overcast skies and cooler conditions – but spirits remained high. Around 150 entries lined up across the classes, with particularly strong fields among the junior 50cc, 65cc and 85cc riders.
The BORC track was exceptionally well prepared, with its deep, sandy surface providing plenty of challenge and setting the scene for some exciting racing throughout the morning.
And Then the Heavens Opened!
By around 1pm, Mother Nature decided she'd had enough of watching from the sidelines.
The heavens opened, quickly changing track conditions and unfortunately forcing organisers to cancel the final three heats of the day. Despite the early finish, there had already been plenty of racing and a fantastic atmosphere around the event.
When the points were counted, Team Gauteng took the overall honours, while Team KZN walked away with the Spirit Trophy – a fitting recognition at an event where representing your province is about more than simply crossing the finish line first.
BikeWise Trackside
As always, BikeWise was right there in the thick of it, adding plenty of colour and branding around the venue while providing our trackside tyre changing service, tyre advice and rider support throughout the event.
From Friday's sunshine to Saturday's sand, racing and eventual downpour, North vs South delivered a memorable weekend at BORC.
